Hi There!

I'm Jonah, the heart behind Nthusa — If there's one thing you should know about me, it's that I'm driven by a simple goal: to leave a legacy of kindness.

After nearly a decade of working on cross-functional teams, I felt something was missing. I've taken many risks in my life and each taught me valuable lessons about what it means to own my humanity and make space for the humanity of others. This philosophy shapes everything I do and every way I show up.

I'm a believer in people. I've realized that the principles and strategies I use to connect with people could help others in their everyday lives especially when applied to leadership, communication and connection with colleagues, clients, and leaders. These techniques help build trust, belonging, and influence through stronger connections.

My mission is simple: to empower leaders with the insights, strategies and tools to build collaborative cultures rooted in meaningful connections.

I'm also a researcher and an avid reader whose philosophy is to be a joy to work with while delivering value to yield results and make people's lives easier and better. I bring a unique blend of authenticity, storytelling and humour to my work, all of which add significant value to the outcomes I deliver.

I can’t wait to get to know YOU!

WHAT PEOPLE ARE SAYING

“Jonah is a thoughtful DEI strategist who inspires individuals of all backgrounds. As a certified DEI facilitator, Jonah helps others to reflect deeply on matters related to bias, anti-racism, accessibility, privilege and more. Jonah is long-time member and guest speaker at Black HR Professionals of Canada. I am honoured to have had the opportunity to learn and co-lead DEI sessions with him as a Change Maker.”

— Tanya Sinclair

Founder, Black HR Professionals of Canada

"Jonah broke down a huge amount of content to make it fresh, interesting, accessible, and digestible. Plus, he incorporated jokes and personality to help people relate to the content and keep them engaged. The separate sections in his material made it less cumbersome and less overwhelming, especially as he effectively targeted the workshop to our audience who did not have much DEI knowledge. It is helpful to know that you can count on someone who doesn’t just meet the standard but exceeds It every time."

— Vanessa Thomas

Program Coordinator, ICTC

"The professionalism, commitment, and expertise Jonah Ssenyange brings to the DEI training sessions are commendable. His deep understanding of the subject matter, coupled with an engaging and inclusive approach, has left a lasting impression on the participants. His wealth of knowledge has contributed immensely to the educational aspect of our initiatives and our participants’ career success. [...] "

— Evageline Chima

Founder, Black Mentorship Inc

"Jonah delivered an engaging presentation to his audience at the  Inaugural SURGE Conference of the Halifax Chamber of Commerce  about the loss of voices of racialized people, who are currently ignored and how wider society suffers by this intentional act. The words used by Jonah were not ‘sound-bites’ pieced together to gain an instant response from the audience but contained lived experience quietly screaming for attention, which was so painfully evident."

— Professor David Divine

Senior Consultant

"I worked with Jonah on a program for a non-profit organization. He was one of our guest speakers for the program and his sessions were very informative and interactive. [...] He is very informed and a key point of reference when it comes to DEI. I would recommend him to anyone interested in working with someone in the DEI space. I look forward to working with him again."

— Kimberly Clarke

Communications Specialist

"I met Jonah when I was taking George Brown College's DEI in the Workplace Program and he was the Teaching Assistant for two of my courses. [...] Since then we have stayed in touch and he has helped a number of my newcomer mentees by sharing his own lived experiences moving to and adapting to Canadian life. Anyone who works with Jonah will quickly learn he is passionate about helping people especially organizations with their DEI journey."

You did a great job at the Equity Summit. You made a virtual environment lively and that’s tough to do! Thanks for teaching me the Zulu greeting!

You created a safer space to engage in really insightful and critical reflections on our positionality. Thank you for that. You were really amazing at holding space for vulnerabilities and complex trauma to move through us. Your work is appreciated!
